I have had wildly disparate experiences with this wine that have ranged from 89 to 95 points. The most recent example was easily the best of them and given that it was a bottle opened by the domaine it's not really all that surprising. The highly complex nose displays a hint of sous bois along with plenty of secondary fruit that is liberally sprinkled with spice, earth, game notes, clove and anise nuances. There is good richness and intensity to the intense and detailed medium plus weight flavors that possess excellent depth on the hugely long finish where a trace of finishing tannin surfaces. This sensational effort could easily withstand another decade of cellar time but I see no further reason to wait as the '93 Riche is likely as good now as it will ever be. Note that the less successful examples that I have tried have had finishes that have been marred by a slight dryness. 95/now+
