This pure silk chiffon scarf is based on one of a group of several paintings by Vincent van Gogh of blossoming almond trees, which represented awakening and hope. The artist made the paintings in southern France, in 1888 and 1890, to celebrate the birth of his nephew and namesake, the son of his brother Theo and sister-in-law Jo.

The hems of the scarf are hand rolled and sewn, not machine stitched. The colors are bright and clear but, because the scarf is chiffon, have a certain transparency. It is easily tied in a variety of ways and is large enough to wear as a light shawl.
