Sibylle is a German actress and folk-singer who appeared in an early Wim Wenders
film among other roles, but, more importantly for us, she recorded a bunch of hushed,
intimate tunes on a reel-to-reel tape machine after her family went to sleep, between
1970 and 1973. For over 30 years they remained hidden until 2006, when her son
compiled them onto a CD for family members to celebrate Sibylle's 60th birthday. A
copy also made its way into J Mascis' hands, and from there it floated out into the
world. Fourteen exquisite and touching tunes, with Baier's voice and guitar the
only sounds. If you're into Nick Drake and the like, this is your huckleberry!
