The Labrador is the most popular breed of dog in the world. The dogs of this breed are very loving, kind, and compassionate to their master. A breed characteristic is webbed paws for swimming, useful for the breeds original purpose of retrieving nets. This and their subsequent use as hunting companions, gave them the name retriever. This sculpture was certainly made to honor the breed, with the dog being placed on an ornately decorated base. They are a very loyal animal; truly a man`s best friend. The sculpture is made of 100% pure bronze with a brown patina and is set on a black marble base. It is signed P.J. Mene.
