2024 La Petite Mort Pet-Nat (short for petillant-naturel) is a rustic style of sparkling wine with a tradition that pre-dates the champagne-method. Whereas champagne is made by adding yeast and sugar to a still dry wine and re-fermenting it, Pet-Nat is made sparkling by bottling during the primary ferment. Ours is made from a grape called Manseng which has made a home here in the Granite Belt after being introduced from its native home of Jurançon in the South-West of France.
Unusual, confronting and a little left of the middle. La Petite Mort (LPM) is the home of our 'other' wines. These small batch, experimental wines are produced with minimal wine making intervention and put into bottle without filtering or fining to allow the raw essence of our experimentation to shine through. Rustic and characterful, LPM wines promise a unique sensory experience and a story behind every label.
