A very fine and rather scarce early carte de visite of Reverend Charles Haddon Spurgeon.
The present was taken during the earlier years of his ministry. Though even then wildly popular, it wasn't really until the 1870's that he became a regular feature of promotional materials, i.e. parian busts, tobacco cards, published small and large scale photographs and prints, etc. Promotional images from the earlier years are much more unusual
