288 "ISHIKAWADAI" - Regular Straight

15oz Selvedge Denim 

In 1953, a Japanese ring-spinning machine called "Ishikawadai" was manufactured.

There are no records of older machines at the manufacturer, making it the oldest currently operational spinning machine in Japan.
Compared to the latest ring-spinning machines, the "Ishikawadai" spins at a much slower speed, about 1/3 of the modern machines.

As a result, its productivity is not outstanding, but it puts less stress on the cotton fibers, giving the fabric a natural, hand-spun appearance with subtle variations. 

This is a unique characteristic of the "Ishikawadai."
The denim fabric for this product was made using 6-count straight yarn spun on the "Ishikawadai" and woven on a 1950s shuttle loom.
