Original oil on canvas, framed in a floating white wood tray frame measuring 34 x 44 cm.
For this painting Chris revisited a street he had previously discovered when creating a painting called ‘The Magician’s House’ - a suitable neighbour. Much like ‘The Arborealist’s House’, the striking impact of this facade means that very little has been changed as Chris leans into its natural dissonance. Despite being grounded in the reality of the window tax imposed by King William III, visually there is a playfulness which means the painting feels at home in Surrealism. The house feels locked up and disconnected - a strange echo to the mysterious inhabitant and their need for a different kind of sight.
