OUR PLANE'S STORY

First flown in 1954, the Lockheed C-130 Hercules was designed to transport troops and cargo into locations where larger aircraft could not operate. Its rugged landing gear, rear loading ramp, and powerful turboprop engines allowed it to operate from rough and unprepared airstrips around the world.

Over the decades, the Hercules evolved into one of the most adaptable aircraft in aviation history, serving in roles that included:
