The Keysight N1913A and N1914A are EPM Series power meters built for RF average power measurements. The N1913A is a single-channel average power meter and the N1914A is a dual-channel average power meter. Both are positioned as versatile, user-friendly replacements for the discontinued E4418B/19B EPM Series, and the power range available on any given measurement depends on the connected power sensor.

These meters support the full set of measurement scenarios laid out in the compatible-sensor table: continuous-wave (CW) signals for metrology-lab and mobile-radio work, pulsed and averaged signals for radar and navigation, and modulated signals across wireless standards including GSM, EDGE, GPRS, cdma2000, cdmaONE, iDEN, 3G, HSPA and LTE mobile-phone formats, 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN, Bluetooth, RFID, ZigBee, WiMAX and WiBro. The specific signal types each sensor class supports vary, with several wireless-standard measurements available in average-only mode.

ValueTronics has specialized in new and used test-and-measurement equipment since 1992, operating from a 20,000 sq ft secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, where we stock and hold our own inventory.

Brand Heritage

Keysight Technologies traces its instrument heritage to Hewlett-Packard, whose test-and-measurement business was spun out as Agilent Technologies in 1999 and then established as Keysight Technologies in 2014. Much of the EPM Series and its compatible sensor line carries this lineage forward.

Compare Other Models in This Series

The EPM Series spans two power-meter models that share the same measurement architecture, accuracy, color display, and remote-interface set, differing primarily in channel count. The N1913A is a single-channel average power meter and the N1914A is a dual-channel average power meter.

Both models accept the full range of compatible Keysight power sensors — 8480 Series, E4410 and E9300 E-Series, N8480 Series, U2000 and U8480A USB sensors, and U2040/50/60 X-Series — with the usable frequency and power range set by the connected sensor.

Each new model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the model that fits your channel-count and code-compatibility requirements, and review that page's specifications and availability.

The N1913A is backward compatible with the 436A and 437B power meters via the optional 43x code-compatibility option (N1913A-200, or N6901A-1FP as a post-purchase upgrade), making it a direct programmatic replacement in existing single-channel test systems.

The core difference between the models is channels: the N1913A measures a single channel while the N1914A measures two channels simultaneously and can display any two of A, B, A/B, B/A, A-B, B-A and relative. With the optional USB ports, both can expand to four channels (C and D).

Measurement speed and code compatibility also differ. In fast mode with E-Series sensors the N1913A reaches 400 readings/second, while the N1914A reaches a typical 200 readings/second with both channels in fast mode. For legacy code compatibility, the N1913A maps to the 436A and 437B and the N1914A maps to the 438A. See the comparison table for the per-model details.

Model Channels Code Compatibility Max Measurement Speed
N1914A 2 438A 200 readings/sec (both channels FAST)
N1913A 1 436A / 437B 400 readings/sec
N1913A 1 436A / 437B 400 readings/sec

Additional differences in specifications beyond the few shown above are not listed here — see each model's full specifications below.

Important: Fast mode (400 readings/sec) is available with Keysight E-Series power sensors only.
Important: A compatible power sensor is required to make measurements and is not included with the power meter; the measurable frequency and power range depend on the connected sensor. The N1913A/N1914A support all average power sensors, including the 8480 Series (including discontinued models), N8480 Series, E-Series (E4410/E9300), and supported U2000/U8480A/U2040-50-60 X-Series USB sensors. Order the appropriate power sensor separately.
Important: 43X code compatibility is available only with option N191xA-200 at time of purchase (N1913A is backward compatible with 436A and 437B; N1914A is compatible with 438A), or as a post-purchase upgrade (N6901A-1FP for N1913A, N6902A-1FP for N1914A).
Important: Option 101 (front-panel calibrator and sensors) cannot be ordered together with any of the B0x or C0x options.
Important: Option 201 requires Option B01 (without battery), which is mandatory for Option 201.
