In this kit you will find everything you need to weave your belt or band.

Welcome to the wonderful world of band weaving.

Your heddle kit comes with:

A shuttle
Rare breed, plant dyed wool and natural yarns for Warp and Weft
Warp threads loaded on to your heddle
Weft thread for weaving with
Ties for attaching to your belt/post
Heddle

This is a style of weaving called backstrap weaving, where your body forms part of the loom. No need for expensive equipment or fancy techniques, using your own body and a heddle you can make beautiful woven bands on the go, and wrap it up to transport it with you.

Heddle and Shuttle

The heddle and shuttle are made from oak ply, laser cut to my specifications. You can use it again with any yarn that will fit in the holes. I have sanded and finished these with oil.

Yarn

My yarns comes are grown right here in West Somerset, from my flock and from the Jacob flock belonging to a friend on Exmoor.

Using these rare breed, Exmoor Horn, Portland and Jacob, I am proud to be a part of a small movement to save them from extinction. 

I took the fleeces to Rampisham Hill Mill in Dorset, to be cleaned, carded and spun in to yarn. Back on the farm I dyed the Exmoor Horn using my home grown coreopsis, woad, weld, dyers chamomile and marigold. I also used ethically sourced indigo and madder. 

Your kit will come pre-warped with the threads tied and ready to weave, and once you have finished you can simply cut off the weaving and warp up again!
