Get Out is about a black man who stumbles into a very white, very weird world. The movie follows Chris Washington, a young African-American man who uncovers a disturbing secret when he meets the family of his white girlfriend, Rose. 'The Sunken Place' represents the marginalization of Black Americans - The metaphor is nuanced and multi-layered, but the main theme of the film’s horror is the real-world concept of a system silencing you no matter how loudly you shout. The scene in which Rose is picking her next victim, also comments on this, as she has the 'white' milk seperate from the 'colored' fruitloops.
