The beaches of St. Petersburg, Florida boasts more than 30 miles of sugary white sands, tranquil shallow seas, serene shores and dazzling sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico, creating breathtaking scenes as uniquely incredible as the beaches along its shoreline. Each beach has its own identity and appeal, attracting people from both near and far. There are more than a dozen beaches in this area and some are more popular than others. Let’s look at what makes some of St. Petersburg beaches so special. 

Clearwater Beach is one of the top ranking beaches in Florida and is known for its gorgeous white quartz sand and sparkling waters. Its emerald-clear surf is dotted with dolphins and draws volleyball players, sun bathers, water sport enthusiasts, vacationers and swimmers. 

Sand Key Park stretches for half-mile and is great for the entire family, with beach cabanas, large bathhouses and a dog park. Endangered sea turtles frequently lay eggs on the beach, and it is also a nesting place for endangered birds. 

The 4,500 feet of Belleair Beach's secluded shoreline is calm and quiet, with no crowds or  active sports. This laid back beach showcases sea turtles and seabird nesting sites scattered along its shore, and it is a great place for boaters.

Reminiscent of Old Florida, Indian Rocks Beach features roughly three miles of beautiful wide, flat, accessible white-sand beaches, along with beautiful dune-lined expanse scattered with small motels, cottages and inviting condos.

One of the highlights of Indian Shores is the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary the largest wild bird hospital in the US. Its soft sand stretches for roughly 2.65 miles and offers a quaint, relaxing atmosphere.

Redington Shores boasts brilliant white sand and sparkling blue water, amazing sunsets, and features a 1,200-foot-long fishing pier, making it a great location for anglers.

Also called “Mad Beach,” Madeira Beach is popular among tourists and locals alike. Its white-sand beaches and emerald-turquoise water draws many to its shores, but John’s Pass Village and Boardwalk keep the energy alive in “Mad Beach.”

The shoreline of Pass-a-Grille Beach stretches for four miles and this beach has a historic charm to its environment and offers up a quaint beach community. Its soft white sand and blue-green Gulf water makes it a Petersburg favorite.

Treasure Island extends for approximately 2 miles with sparkling sand lines along its shores. This large beach has an abundance of sea shells on its white shores, and kite flying, jet skiing and beach volleyball are enjoyed here.
