Omega watches began in a small workshop established by Louis Brandt in La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland in 1848 - La Chaux-de-Fonds is synonymous with horology. By the early 1900s, Omega was producing some 100,000 watches a year, which made it one of the biggest watch manufacturers in the world. Its past, its timepieces, and its activities alongside watch production have made Omega one of the most significant and iconic names in the measurement of time.
What’s On Offer
An absolute stunner of a watch, the whole team will be sad to see this one go! A vintage 18k gold Omega which we have dated to 1947, in such beautiful condition, is a real joy to find and a jumbo-sized variant like this, even more so! At 37.5mm (without crown) this is a really rare find and very much sought after. The Champagne-coloured dial is in beautiful condition, boasting graceful gold Dauphine hands and a recessed seconds subdial at 6 o'clock. A subtle chapter ring, elegantly painted hour markers and the Omega signature complete a simple yet stylish design which is preserved under plexiglass and framed by a beautiful 18k rose gold case.
We think that the dial may have been refinished at some point historically, but it has been executed exquisitely and takes nothing away from the beauty of this piece. There are some tiny marks on the case, these are only to be expected with a preowned, antique gold watch from the 1940s. This watch has undergone a full service with our watchmaker and a light glass clean and polish, so it's in really good order and looks fantastic!
Overall, a stunning watch, rare, and at this jumbo size, really desirable. We don't want to let it go.....
