Known as: Chachaso in Africa. The term "Millefiori" means "a thousand flowers" in Italian. In response to the collapse of exclusive trade with the Orient and the dominance of Bohemian glass in the European market, Venice created decorative glass with a wide range of colors, known as Millefiori glass. Traders who were already engaged in bead trade with Africa crafted cylindrical beads from this glass and transported them to Africa as trade beads.
