Product Description: This is a strand of Etched Carnelian Beads.
Please note that as an antique item, it may have scratches, cracks, or chips.
Era: 2500 BCE - 1800 BCE
Originating from the Indus Valley Civilization, these carnelian beads feature patterns created using a natron solution derived from plants. The patterns were baked onto the beads at low temperatures of around 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. While these beads have been excavated from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, it is believed that they were originally crafted in the Indus River region and transported through both land and sea routes.
