Vintage 1960s / 1970s Bohemian Patch Possum Fur Jacket. Fall to Winter stroller made of soft & supple Gold Brown & Beige fur, artfully patched for texture & color. Tie front with invisible hook & eye closures, to keep in the warmth, while looking boho chic. Possum fur comes from Australia & is the only fur nearly as soft & light weight as chinchilla, yet hearty & warm. Shawl collar flips up & hooks tight for the coldest days. Fully lined in Brick Red satin, this piece has been professionally stored for many years, so is in extremely good condition for its age. Shows only the mildest of wear, beyond a dark line in the lining where the tie belt goes through.

American opossums are for some reason, often referred to as possums (scientific name) Didelphimorphia. Possums are actually from Australia (scientific name) Phalangeridae. Both are marsupials, but that's about where the similarities end. This is a possum fur coat, not an American opossum, which does not really have the sort of fur one would like to wear.
