Do these pipes need surface prep before welding?

Mild steel tubes arrive bare. Brush or wire-wheel the weld zones to remove light mill scale and surface rust before laying down beads—standard procedure for any welding project.

What about rust protection after I'm done welding?

Once fabricated and assembled, coat with high-temp exhaust paint or ceramic finish to prevent corrosion. Bare mild steel will surface-rust over time without protection.

Are these tubes the right size for my manifold design?
