AFR designed these valve spring seats to protect your aluminum head from the harder valve springs. When a valve spring is free to move slightly on an aluminum head, it will quickly wear and damage the cylinder head itself. These valve spring seats have been developed to prevent this type of damage from occurring. The spring seats are installed over the valve guide and have a tapered shape that prevents the spring from being able to move excessively in any direction.
