Original oil on board, framed in a floating white wood tray frame measuring 20.5 x 25 cm.
Across Clapton Pond you may find a sense of quiet reclusiveness, hidden away from the city. This painting was inspired by the Bishops Wood’s Almshouses which have stood here since 1665. They fulfilled their original purpose for the next 349 years and were the oldest residential buildings in continuous occupation in Hackney. Chris has painted an isolated house being slowly reclaimed by nature, the doorway long gone. Beyond a solitary window the only link with the outside world is a tv aerial rising behind the facade.
