Product Description: This is a strand of Etched Carnelian Beads.
Please note that as an antique item, it may have scratches, cracks, or chips.
Era: 2500 BCE to 1800 BCE
These beads originate from the Indus Valley Civilization. Designs were created on carnelian using a liquid called natron derived from plants, then baked at low temperatures of around 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. While they can be found in archaeological sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, it is believed that they were made in the Indus Valley region and transported via land and sea routes.
